The Effects of Dehydration on the Brain
Your brain is 75% water and your blood is more than 80% water. You need that water circulating in your body for your organs to function. As your brain is practically three-quarters only water, it actually shrinks in size when you're dehydrated.
Not drinking enough water causes what's known as a dehydration headache. Even temporary dehydration can alter your mood. Particularly, dehydration leads to:

How Much Water Should You Drink?
Obviously, you should drink enough pure water during the day to avoid a dehydrated brain. But how much exactly?
You should drink between half an ounce and an ounce of water for every pound you weigh every day. For example, if your weight is 200 pounds, you should drink between 100 to 200 ounces of water daily.
Use bottles and glasses to keep track of your water consumption during the day. It helps to always have a bottle of water with you in class for whenever you feel the urge to take a sip.
